On Saturday, March 10, 2001, I did some "unconventional" roadgeeking in the Cincinnati area, primarily downtown. I say "unconventional" because I took my trip solely for the purpose of taking pictures. Many of my pictures deal with bridges over the Ohio River; some of the information in my captions comes from Cincinnati-Transit.net (by Jake Mecklenborg) about Cincinnati’s bridges, tunnels, and viaducts. I began my trip around 9 in the morning, knowing that this would give me several hours of light traffic.

I also took many pictures near Fort Washington Way (referred to as "FWW" from now on), and I should begin with a brief history of that expressway. FWW carries I-71 and US 50. The original FWW was built in the 1950’s, and it gradually became a very wide mess with many unsafe ramps, lane shifts, etc. The road was recently rebuilt. It was put into a trench, and frontage roads were built to replace all of the old entrance and exit ramps. At the time these pictures were taken, the construction is mostly done, but some minor work remained.
