History of the Routes in Berrien County, Michigan

This portion of Roadfan.com deals with the routings of Berrien County, Michigan throughout the years. Berrien County is located in the southwest corner of the lower peninsula, along the Chicago/Detroit and Indianapolis/Grand Rapids corridors, and just north of South Bend, Indiana. As such, Berrien County has been a significant crossroads since modern transportation systems have existed.

The information here is primarily courtesy of Chris Bessert's Michigan Highways website, with its many sources, although other sources are used, including maps located on the Footpath to Freeway: The Evolution of Michigan Roadmaps website, official maps of various years of the Berrien County Road Commission and the Michigan Department of Transportation, plus personal observations starting in the 1970s, and are usually cited on the respective pages.

Any questions about specific routings not obvious from the maps can usually be answered by the respective entries from the Michigan Highways website, which are linked at the bottom of each page.

Note: Not all links function at this time. Until then, use Chris Bessert's website for relevant information.
