Colorado River crossing near Needles, CA

• Someone's idea of reusing old bridges
• The old US 66 crossing (arch bridge in back) and a cable stayed bridge (of pipes)

I-40

• This constitutes a town along some stretches of Arizona
• Someone advertising by means of a broken down truck east of Kingman
• The Aquarius Mnts. with the exit to US 93 South in the foreground
• Rain in the distance, rounded road cut in the foreground
• More mountains on the horizon, I-40 (and old US 66 to the left) snake on through (either Trinity or Bill Williams)
• Round mounds and rain, south of I-40
• Looking north at flat land and the back of an exit sign
• Sometimes the land just stretches on forever
• I-40 is newly paved here (and yes there is a median between the directions of traffic) and the rock to the north gives away its age.

Painted Desert

• Some cliffs (a meteor?) to the north of I-40

• Painted Cliffs
• More painted cliffs with a rr going between I-40 and the cliffs to the south
• More cliffs on the horizon. Old 66 is to the south running as a dirt path now
• You also get to see tremendous thunderheads out here
• Somewhere near the border between Arizona and New Mexico
• Another storm out to the east in New Mexico

New Mexico -- I-40

• Proof that there are intersections along our interstates
• Old arch bridge for US 66 (with I-40 to the right, and refurbished state route to the left) Close-up
• Albuquerque in the foreground (two tone sky digitally made)
• Metal braced bridge, instead of the standard concrete with its height mentioned
• Gusty winds and a one piece SGS for I-40 east
• More rain on the eastern horizon
• Exit - no routes, no towns (but some gas and food are there), and rain to the SE
• In case you missed the first exit some 550 miles back west, take US 84 west (or is it north) to Las Vegas....New Mexico
• Another exit with nothing to offer

Texas

• Texas is not always flat, but someone is always looking for oil here
• Old Gas Station in Shamrock that the town is looking for money to refurbish as a monument to US 66.
• The change over from divided highway into city street (I-40 would be on the horizon), east of Shamrock along old US 66

Oklahoma

• Baldwin Bridge (just south of Hydro) named such after Senator Don Baldwin, who was the first native son of Caddo County, Oklahoma to be elected to the state senate.
• Spur US 281. Why not just a long exit ramp to?
• I-40 & US 270 to go along with I-270 and US 40....somewhere
• North Canada was never so far....south? Why is it named Canadian (when Canada is 1000 miles north)

Arkansas

• A suffixed Arkansas route. Ark 7 near Russelville
• This picture was supposed to show the Arkansas scenic highway shield It's that disk under the Ark 7 shield
